Music Video[]
"Welcome to the Jungle" was the first music video by Guns N' Roses. The music video was directed by Nigel Dick and was filmed August 1-2, 1987 at the Park Plaza Hotel and 450 S. La Brea Avenue in Hollywood. The music video opens with a shot of Axl Rose, stylized as a country peasant, getting off a bus in Los Angeles and walking past drug dealers and prostitutes in disbelief of what he sees. Then the hero stops in front of a TV shop window, where Slash is shown drinking Jack Daniel's straight from the bottle. The clip also featured shots of musicians performing in a club and Rose partying. The image also included a scene where Rose is sitting in a safety vest in an electric chair in front of a row of televisions that broadcast war and violence footage, which made MTV fearful of airing the clip.
